 Occupational Therapist, Certified Lymphedema Therapist
 Practitioner #:

I graduated from the College of Charleston in 1995, and also from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2000. I have been a Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) since 2000, and Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) since 2011.

I began my career in South Carolina and moved to Florida in 2005 as a traveling therapist. Since that time, I have advanced my skills through continuing education trainings and clinical experience. Most of my experience has been focused on orthopedic, physical and functional rehabilitation. I have worked in an acute inpatient setting, outpatient orthopedic, skilled nursing and home health care environments.

In 2014, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully today, after extensive treatment and surgeries, I proudly count myself as a breast cancer survivor!!! During my years of enduring the fight with cancer, it furthered my research and deepened my empathy for those who are still on their journey to find peace and comfort within their own body.

It is my passion to deliver therapy that results in measurable improvements, and to promote independent living, free of pain and disability. I am also a strong believer in patient education and patient responsibilities.I have found a huge passion and motivation for working with people who are striving to achieve the best possible quality of life. It is truly my honor to be a part of your recovery, health and wellness plans.

  • Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is most recognized as a treatment for lymphedema, secondary to breast cancer treatment, which in some cases lymphnodes may be altered with a biopsy, or surgically removed. This disruption to the lymphatic system can cause reduced circulation of lymphatic fluid, resulting in a buildup of fluid, which is the visible symptom of inflammation. MLD also has many uses to provide symptom relief for other diagnosis, such as fibromyalgia, chronic pain,pre/post surgical inflammation, sprains and strains, swollen arms/legs, rheumatoid arthritis, general sinus pressure and headaches. MLD techniques utilize specific light-pressure strokes and sequences to promote decongestion of fluid and waste products that have been removed from the interstitial tissue of your body. Without proper expulsion of this waste, the body’s other functions become sluggish and you have an increased risk for other health problems.
